Refined-Sugar Free Dessert Recipes for a Sweeter Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s day is often marked with chocolates, sweets, and all the extra-indulgence. Too much of refined sugar can cause health troubles.

Rose & Saffron Pudding

You can prepare this with brown basmati rice. You can soak the rice overnight for increased brown rice benefits. Pour in 200 ml of coconut milk and stir in the soaked rice, slivered almonds, and saffron. Add some chopped dates to add a natural to the dish. Put the lid on and allow the rice to cook on medium heat. Once the rice pudding is cooked, pour it into bowls and top with some cut pistachios, dries rose petals, and a few strands of saffron.

Gluten Free Brownies

Everyone loves a gooey and fudgy brownie, warm out of the oven. These brownies are vegan, gluten-free, and healthy. Soak some dates in warm water. Blend the dates and unsalted butter. Slowly mix in vanilla bean paste, baking powder, a pinch of sea salt, ½ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 cup of almond flour, ½ cup of almond milk, orange zest, 1 tablespoon of dark chocolate chips and 1 portion of a flax egg. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spray some coconut oil. Pour in the mix and top it with chopped walnuts. Bake it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool the brownies and cut them into squares. 

White Chocolate & Cherry Cookies

Store-bought cookies are also loaded with sugar and refined flour. This cookie recipe is gluten-free and delicious. Start with mixing 2 cups of almond flour, a pinch of salt, 100 gm butter, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, ½ cup of dried cherries, 1 tablespoon of almond milk, baking powder, 1 flax-egg, and ½ cup white chocolate chips. Mix in to form the cookie dough. Cover it in cling film and refrigerate it for 3 hours. Form small cookie balls and bake at 375 degrees for 11 minutes. Once done, transfer the cookies to a cooling rack. Enjoy these cookies with your favourite cup of tea.
